Teaching C+le Words

Consonant+le words are words ending with a consonant, then the letters l and e. They include words ending with these letters: -ble, -dle, -tle, -gle, -ple, -fle, -zle, -ckle, kle, -cle.

The consonant+le syllable is one of the six syllable types. It always occurs at the end of a word and only occurs in multisyllablic words. The -le will make the /əl/ sound, which sounds like /ŭl/.

Students will need a lot of practice identifying and reading c+le words in order to advance and become confident readers!

The worksheet helps students practice reading words with a c+le syllable and allows them to confirm it with pictures.
