Why We Love It

These printable Christmas color-by-number pages are a great addition to your holiday learning!

Although color-by-code activities may not seem like it, they’re actually targeted educational activities, integrating multiple skills in an engaging format.

Kids have to use their visual discrimination skills to determine the number in a section of the picture, match it to a color in the key, then color the section with the correct color. All of this encourages important pre-literacy skills.

And by the way, coloring also strengthens hand muscles and supports fine motor skills development, which is important for proper letter formation and handwriting!

All this to say, these Christmas-themed printable pages are great. But best of all, they’re no-prep! Just print the pages, grab your crayons, and get started!

Christmas Tree Color by Number

On this page, kids follow the code to color a Christmas tree, star, ornaments, presents, a candy cane, and Santa! The imagery is very specific to Christmas celebrations.

Crazy Candy Color by Number

This page is a little silly and focused only on candy!

Rather than color the candy canes red and white (boring!), we made it so there’s no pattern to follow. Kids must rely on the code to complete the picture. The end result is a super vibrant page!

Extension Ideas

👉 Classroom Scavenger Hunt: As a group, pick a color from the coloring sheet. Look around and find two things that are the same color. Repeat until you’ve done all the colors.

👉 Create a Background: Have kids draw and color a background to complement their completed color-by-number page.

👉  Tell a Story: Ask kids to write or tell a short story about the picture. Who is in the picture? What is happening?
